On Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026, the Colorado Springs Fire Department responded to multiple reports of a house fire in the 5400 block of Alteza Drive after neighbors saw flames coming from a garage. Crews arrived in just 5 minutes and found the fire had already spread from the garage into the second floor of the home. Firefighters faced challenging conditions due to heavy hoarding conditions inside and outside the house, along with reports of gasoline and propane tanks stored in the garage. One occupant was home at the time and was treated for minor burns and smoke inhalation. They have been displaced, and unfortunately, the home is a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Additional information provided by the Colorado Springs Fire Department.
