Nicholas Dale Memorial Procession

On July 20th, 2026 fire departments, firefighters, first responders, law enforcement and the public set-up along I-70 in various locations to honor and pay their respects for fallen firefighting helicopter pilot Nicholas Dale with his memorial procession. The procession started in Montrose and traveled over 280 miles on I-70 to the Denver International Airport, where Dale was returned home to his family. Nicholas Dale made the ultimate sacrifice when he was fighting the Gold Mountain Fire. Nicholas Dale was 56 years-old and was from Sooke, British Columbia on the southern Vancouver Island.
