Station 8 Uncoupling Ceremony

On April 18th, 2026 the Thornton Fire Department celebrated the grand opening with an uncoupling ceremony and open house for the new Station 8 at 15343 Monaco St. in Windsong. The Thornton community was invited to the ceremony including the presentation and raising of the colors with remarks by Fire Chief Stephen Kelly, an invocation given by Chaplain Chris Casillas and further remarks by Thornton Mayor Jan Kulmann and Assistant Chief Jason Hollands. Afterwards the public was invited in to tour the station, and meet up with firefighters and more. The new station has new two-pull through bays that features 10,675 square feet. The new station will house a one engine company and will improve the response times and enhance fire protection services as the City of Thornton grows.
