Colorado Springs 3rd Alarm Fire

At approximately 20:10 on March 3rd, 2023 Colorado Springs Fire Department was dispatched to the 2500 block of S. Academy Blvd. for a possible commercial structure fire. Once units were en route, the Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center advised they were receiving multiple calls for the address with reports of heavy fire and smoke coming from the roof. Engine 11 and Medic 54 were the first arriving units and both reporting heavy fire and smoke conditions, as well as explosions coming from inside the building. Engine 11 established command on the Alpha side and moved into defensive mode. Truck 4 arrived and began aerial operations to set up a master stream. A second alarm assignment was requested shortly after at 20:16. Rescue 17 arrived and assume the RIC position. Command then requested a 3rd Alarm assignment at 20:38. Squad 21 established rehab on the south end of the business complex. The fire was called under control at 22:07 and companies began to return into service. No injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation by the Colorado Springs Fire Department, Division of the Fire Marshal.
