Arvada Restaurant Fire
December 17th, 2012 at 02:16 Arvada Fire Protection District was alerted to a reported commercial structure fire at 7490 W. 52nd Ave. at the Bennett’s Bar-B-Que Restaurant. Dispatch advised responding companies of multiple 911 calls that fire seen from the chimney. First due Engine 51 arrived to flames showing from the attic space, established a water supply stretching a 2 1/2 and in the defensive strategy. Engine 52 arrived and took a second 2 ½” line off of Engine 51 with fire attack from the Alpha side. Engine 55 staged on the Delta side. Battalion 51 arrived and assumed command. Truck 54 set the master stream up for defensive roof ops. Engine 51 lost a 2 ½” to burn amber’s through the line. Command sent Engine 55 to Engine 51 for fire attack. Engine 52 moved to the Bravo-Charlie side corner with a 2 ½”. Engine 53 and Engine 55 checked the Delta gable for extension. The fire was placed under control about 45 minutes and another 45 minutes before the fire was out. Crews worked an extended overhaul and overnight watch. No injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation.
