Poudre Grass Fire

At 16:54 on March 14th, 2012 Poudre Fire Authority responded to a report of a grass fire at 5030 Buss Grove Rd. in Fort Collins. Engine 10 arrived and found the fire had spread to a storage trailer along with the grass fire continuing to spread in a northerly direction pushed by gusty winds. The fire ended up burning 5-7 acres in a large open field. Larimer County Rd. 5 just north of Buss Grove Rd. was closed due to smoke obscuring visibility and firefighters operating along the road. Investigators determined the fire origin to be in grass on the incident property. The cause was an escaped illegal ditch burn. Additional information provided by Poudre Fire Authority
