Candlelight Vigil 2014

Northglenn Police Department hosted a ceremony on May 5th, 2014 to honored Colorado and national law peace officers. The ceremony was held at E.B. Rains Park in Northglenn with law enforcement officers from all across Colorado gathering to remember their fellow fallen brothers and sisters who have lost their life in the line of duty. part of the National Law Enforcement week The park was built to honor Northglenn Police Officer Corporal Edgar B Rains, Jr. EOW May 30th, 1984. Ceremonies included the Nation anthem, presentations of the wreaths, remembrance of fallen Colorado officers, 21 gun salute, TAPS, and more. In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15th falls, as National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
