At 14:02 on January 29th, 2014 South Adams County Fire Department responded to a possible structure fire in the 6500 block of E. 88th Ave. in Derby. Engine 26 arrived to find smoke showing from the front door of the evacuated residence, and pulled a 1 3/4 attack line. Crews entered the residence to find fire coming from the Alpha side wall behind an oven. The oven was removed and the fire was quickly knocked with moderate extension into the wall. No personal property was lost in the fire, and investigators believed that the oven caught fire during use and caused extension into the wall possibly by a natural gas leak.
