2nd Alarm Apartment Fire

At 05:13 on December 1st, 2015 Poudre Fire Authority was alerted to an apartment fire at 1050 Hobbit St. in Fort Collins. Crews arrived approximately four minutes later and discovered fire in the attic. The fire was brought under control in about 15 minutes. Damage was confined to a portion of the wall around the fireplace.  Residents were awakened by the sound of a smoke detector and when they went to investigate the cause, they found smoke in the exterior stairwell and noticed that the wall was hot to the touch. Sixteen people were evacuated. Three units suffered smoke damage and 3 residents will be displaced for an extended amount of time while the apartment is cleaned up and repaired.
