Westminster House Fire

At 10:03 on March 3rd, 2015 Westminster Fire Department was dispatched to a possible structure fire in the 9700 block of Teller Ct. Dispatched advised units responding of multiple 911 callers reporting a lot of white smoke showing from the house with smoke detectors sounding. Truck 3 arrived with nothing showing, preformed a 360 and found smoke coming out of the vents on the Alpha-Bravo side with melting of the windows. Battalion 1 arrived, assumed command and assigned Truck 2 to pull a back-up line in for fire attack, Engine 2 laid in the supply line to Truck 3. Engine 5 assigned as RIC and EMS 1 as Safety. A possible garage fire was suspected, prompting crews to force entry through the garage door, no fire conditions were found. An attack line was advanced inside the home and firefighters encountered heavy smoke down to the floor. Command identified a possible basement fire and assigned Truck 2 to the basement with an attack line. Crews quickly located a victim in the basement area during the primary search and initially planned to conduct a rescue. Command requested an additional engine and 2 medics to the scene. It was determined that the victim was DOA and left in place for investigators. A smoldering, post flash-over fire in the basement was controlled and ventilation was preformed. All other searches proved negative with no injuries reported. The incident is under investigation. Additional information was provided by Westminster Fire Department
