Around 01:30 on March 19th, 2017 fire crews were alerted to a wildland fire in the Sunshine Canyon area that was near Boulder. Within 10 minutes of the initial dispatch the incident was upgraded to a full Boulder County Wildland Task Force assignment. Resources included Sugarloaf, Nederland, Boulder Mountain, City of Boulder for 2 Structure Engines, Lyons, Jamestown, Lefthand and Department of Fire Prevention and Control. Units observed firebrands landing in 300 block of Mapleton, prompting a 2nd Alarm Wildland page about 40 mins after initial dispatch. Those resources included Boulder Emergency Squad, Pinewood Springs, Big Elk, Allenspark, Timberline (Gilpin County) Coal Creek Canyon, Lafayette, Louisville, North Metro, Longmont and Berthoud (Larimer County).

Around 03:00 a Denver Metro Task Force request was requested to South Metro Dispatch. Evacuations included 1030 homes and 400-plus were on standby for pre-evacuations. Over 70 acres burned and the incident was placed at 100% contained as of 17:00 Monday. No structures were reported burned or lost, and no injuries were reported. A campfire was to blame for the incident.

Southeast – Aurora Chief 7, Engine 13, Cunningham Engine 61, Littleton Engine 15, South Metro Brush Engine 39 & Engine 47

West – Arvada Engine 58, West Metro Brush 39, Fairmount Engine 34, Pleasant View Engine 41 & Golden Engine 25

North – Thornton Battalion Chief 72, Engine 75, North Metro Engine 63, Brighton Engine 55, Adams County Engine 14 & Westminster Engine 2
