Colorado Springs Garage Fire

At Approximately 13:28 on December 24th, 2018 Colorado Springs Fire Department Engine 1, Engine 2, Truck 1, Truck 8, and Battalion 1 were dispatched by Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center to a possible structure fire in the 800 block of E. Kiowa Ave. While en route, Engine 1 reported a large header of smoke. On scene Engine 1 pulled two supply lines and an attack line on the Kiowa side. Battalion 1 arrived and advised a garage on the charlie side was on fire and requested Truck 1 and Engine 2 report to the alley side, while Engine 1 remained on the Kiowa side. Battalion 1 then advised all units that the alley side was now the alpha side and the Kiowa side was now charlie side. Truck 1 advised command there were several power lines exposed, and then command requested the Colorado Springs Utility due to the power lines. Engine 2 pulled an 1¾ primary attack line and laid to supply lines. Truck 8 arrived was assigned to assist Engine 2 with the hand lines. Truck 1 was then reassigned to Safety and Accountability due to the low hanging power lines. AMR Medic 29 arrived and staged at approximately 13:50. At 13:38, dispatch toned out Rescue 17, HazMat 14, Squad 8, Battalion 2, and 73(PIO/EMS Liaison) as the working structure fire assignment. Squad 8 arrived at 13:40 and was assigned has rehab. At 13:44 Rescue 17, HazMat 14, and Battalion 2 were then canceled. The fire was called under control at 13:48. Crews began to break down lines at 13:55. Companies began to be slowly released at approximately 14:15. The scene was later turned over to fire investigators.
