Littleton Brush Fire
At 20:30 on June 28th, 2018 Littleton Fire Rescue and South Metro Fire Rescue responded to a small brush fire on the north side of C-470 between Santa Fe Drive and Platte Canyon Road. First arriving Engine 16 found a 30×50 grass fire initially moving at a slow rate of spread between the South Platte Reservoir Dam and the access road. The crew deployed an attack line and began fire suppression just as gusty winds pushed the flame front at a rapid rate of spread to the east. Additional Firefighters from Brush 40 and Brush 18 arrived moments later and began a direct attack on the fire. Within 10 minutes the fire was contained and crews focused on extinguishing the hot spots. At the same time, fireworks were seen near the east side of Chatfield State Park and 911 callers reported a brush fire along the railroad tracks in the area of Brandon Drive. That fire grew to approximately ¼ of an acre and was quickly extinguished. No damage to any structures and no injuries occurred at either incident.
