Colorado Springs High Angle Rescue

At 12:45 on November 11th, 2018 Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center dispatched Colorado Springs Fire Department Engine 18 to Ute Valley Park in the 1700 block on Vindicator Dr. to a medical call. After looking over the call notes Engine 18 requested a high angle rescue assignment. Battalion 3, Truck 9, Engine 5, Brush 5 were then dispatched to the incident. Once Engine 18 arrived and set up Ute Valley Command, Truck 9 was then canceled due to Engine 5 and Brush 5 responding as the high angle rescue team. Engine 18 and Brush 18 were then assigned as rescue group and began to hike to the RP’s location. At 13:05 Battalion 3 arrived and assumed Ute Valley Command from Engine 18. After speaking with the RP crews then began to search for the patient southwest of the command post. Once Engine 5 and Brush 5 arrived they were assigned to the rescue group and assisted Brush 18 in the search. At 13:11 Brush 18 made patient contact and guide Brush 5 to the patient’s location. At 13:21 Brush 18 members and the patient began to hike back out to the command post after determining the patient has no injuries, and Brush 5 was then instructed to meet back at the command post. At 13:33 the patient was back at the command post and handed over to AMR Medic 16 for evaluation. At 13:39 Ute Valley Command was terminated by Battalion 3 and crews began to be released.
