Colorado Springs Fatal MVC

At approximately 20:25 on January 18th, 2019 Colorado Springs Fire Department was dispatched to the intersection of Briargate Blvd. and Union Blvd. for a motor vehicle collision. While en route, Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center advised Engine 19 that a patient was possibly DOA, Engine 19 then requested Truck 19 and Battalion 3 to respond. On scene, Engine 19 reported that the scene was very spread out and assigned Truck 19 to check on the other vehicle. Engine 19 also requested an additional ambulance code 3 and established Union Command. At 20:30 Engine 19 requested all westbound traffic to be closed down by PD. While Truck 19 was still en route, Engine 19 members went to check on the driver of the pickup and were able to confirm the driver was DOA. Engine 19 and Truck 19 were placed on standby to extricate the victim, pending the CSI team. At 20:34, the was extrication was canceled, and the second ambulance was canceled, due to no other injuries. The scene was turned over to the Colorado Springs Police Department at 20:52 for investigations.
