At 11:56 on  July 1st, 2019 Colorado Springs Fire Department was dispatched by the Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center to the 2300 block E. Boulder St. for a possible HazMat Incident. En route, dispatch advised that a semi’s saddle tank had been punctured and approximately 25 gallons of diesel fuel had leaked out of the tank. On scene, Engine 2 gave and size to units still en route. Engine 2 was able to pug the hole in the tank with a tennis ball and putty. Due to there being no threat of runoff Engine 2 also set up a perimeter and waited for HazMat 6 to set up a plan of action. Once HazMat 6 arrived, they and Engine 2 spread Peat Moss over the diesel fuel and proceed to collect the diesel that had absorbed in the Peat Moss. Units remained on scene until approximately 11:30.
