Colorado Springs House Fire

At approximately 13:05 on February 1st, 2019 Colorado Springs Fire Department was dispatched by Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center to a possible structure fire in the 700 block of Kenwood Circle. On scene Squad 8 reported a working structure fire with heavy smoke and flames showing from the delta, alpha, and charlie sides, Squad 8 then established Kenwood Command. Squad 8 then entered the structure to evacuate the occupants. Once Engine 8 arrived, Engine 8 assumed Kenwood Command and requested the next in Engine to pull two forward supply lines. Engine 8 and Squad 8 then pulled two 1 ¾” attack lines to the alpha side and Truck 8 requested vertical ventilation emergent. At 13:13, Engine 12 was clearing the training grounds nearby and was put on the call as second due Engine. While Truck 8 Irons conducted a primary search on the fire floor, Truck 1 was assigned to assist with the primary search in the basement. Upon arrival Engine 12 was assigned as Interim RIT, awaiting Rescue 17.  The main body of fire was knocked by on scene units at 13:18 and the primary search on the fire floor was called all clear. Truck 8 Ladders updated that vertical ventilation was complete and Truck 8 Irons reported that smoke conditions were improving. Truck 1 advised that the primary search was all clear, Battalion 4, which was assigned to charlie division, reported to that there was a downed power line in the backyard and command requested Colorado Springs Utilities to respond emergent. At 13:28, the secondary search was complete and HazMat 14 conducted a PAR. At 13:38, the fire was deemed under control. At 13:50 crews started to go to rehab and Engine 12 with Rescue 17 were released from the scene. Truck 19 and Engine 3 arrived on scene to relieve on scene units. At 15:51 Kenwood Command was terminated and the scene was handed over to fire investigators and units that remained on scene.

Special Call: Squad 7, Brush 16, Truck 19 & Engine 3
