Colorado Springs Basement Fire

At approximately 01:10 on January 1st, 2019 Colorado Springs Fire Department was dispatched to a possible structure fire in the 2300 block of Langholm Dr. Engine 19 arrived on scene and reported nothing showing, and started to investigate, while all other units continued in and staged. Engine 19 reported smoke showing from the basement, and called the incident a working structure fire. Battalion 3 established Langholm Command, Truck 19 then started to gain access from the delta side, through a wooden fence. While Engine 19 pulled a 1 3/4 attack line, Engine 15 pulled a supply line and back up line on arrival. Still en route, Truck 9 was given the position of RIT, Engine 19 reported the fire was knocked, as well as requested an available truck company to ventilate and a crew to check for extension on the main floor. Truck 19 Irons then entered the structure to check for extension, while Truck 19 Ladders performed the primary search, was given the assignment to ventilate the structure. Engine 15 was on standby with the backup line when they were requested to assist Truck 19 Ladder with ventilation. Engine 15 then sent two members to assist Truck 19 Ladders, while keeping two members on the backup line. On scene Haz-Mat 14 was assigned Safety and Accountability. Truck 19 Irons were able to turn off the power, while Langholm Command requested fire investigators to respond. Engine 15 while checking for extension, performed a secondary search. Upon arrival, Rescue 17 arrived and was instructed to stage, while Truck 19 Ladders confirmed the primary search was all clear at 01:33. Engine 19 then went to change SCBA bottles, while Safety and Accountability conducted a PAR and Squad 7 setup rehab. At 01:38 the PAR was complete and Safety was assigned to put down some salt around the engine companies. Battalion 4 reported to command that there was still a cat in the inside in the second floor Alpha-Delta corner bedroom. Truck 19 Ladders then went back into the structure and searched for the cat. Truck 19 Irons were then assigned to collect the personal items for the residents and Engine 15 began to break down the supply line. Truck 19 Ladders was able to rescue the cat from the bedroom and hand the cat back over to the residents. At 02:02, Battalion 4 and Truck 9 were released, and at 02:09 all units exited the structure. Units began to start driving around the block in order to keep their engines warm in the 1 degree weather. Other units on scene, began to be released around 4:20 and the scene was released to investigators
