Colorado Springs Structure Fire

At approximately 18:35 on May 5th, 2019 Colorado Springs Fire Department was dispatched by the Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center to the 2300 block of Revere Lane for a possible structure fire. On scene, Engine 6 reported a strong smell of smoke and smoke was showing and called the incident a working fire. Engine 6 pulled a 1 ¾ inch attack line to the alpha side. Engine 7 arrived, pulled a supply line, secondary attack line to the alpha side, and a backup line to the charlie side. Engine 6 reported the fire was a fully involved kitchen fire that was spreading to the charlie side. Battalion 1 arrived and assumed command. Truck 10 was assigned to ventilate and Truck 1 was assigned interim RIT and to shut off utilities. Engine 2 arrived they advised command that the hydrant was malfunctioning and command ordered everyone to evacuate the structure until a water supply was reestablished. Battalion 2 arrived and was assigned to charlie division. At 18:51 a water supply was reestablished and crews reentered the structure. Truck 10 was reordered to ventilate the inside of the structure and to conduct a search. Rescue 17 arrived and assumed RIT from Truck 1, and Truck 1 was assigned to assist with salvage. HazMat 14 arrived and was assigned as Safety and Accountability. At 18:58 command time stamped the fire was knocked. Engine 2 was then assigned to assist Truck 10 with ventilation. At 19:02 Truck 10, conducted the secondary search. AMR was requested to evaluate a firefighter that took a fall and was later cleared by medical. During overhaul, crews did find small amounts of fire and quickly extinguished them. The scene was then handed over to fire investigators at 20:48.

American Medical Response: Medic 22 & EMS Supervisor

Special Call: Brush 16 (After the Fire Program)
