Colorado Springs Structure Fire
At 20:31 on January 28th, 2019 Colorado Springs Fire Department was dispatched by Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center to a possible structure fire at 19 N. Roosevelt St. Squad 8 was then put on the call for rehab and to get an initial size up. Dispatch gave an basic update to all units stating that a dryer was on fire in the basement. On scene, Squad 8 reported smoke coming from the charlie side of the structure, and smoke coming from the front door, called the incident a working structure fire. Once Engine 8, Truck 8, and Battalion 2 arrived; Battalion 2 established Roosevelt Command, Engine 8 was assigned to fire attack and Truck 8 was assigned to primary and secondary search. Engine 7 arrived and staged for an assignment, Truck 8 and Engine 8 were able to get a quick knock on the fire and requested a 1 ¾” attack line and a backup line to the charlie side. Engine 7 then tended to a patient suffering from smoke inhalation and minor burns to the lower extremities. Truck 10 arrived on scene and assumed interim RIT, awaiting for the arrival of Rescue 17. Truck 8 Ladders was then assigned to vertical ventilation. Upon arrival Engine 6 was assigned Safety and Accountability. Truck 8 Irons confirmed the primary search all clear, and Rescue 17 arrived and staged. Medic 18 transported the patient to an area hospital and an additional medic was requested to stage on scene. Rescue 17 was released and Accountability conducted a PAR, and the the secondary search was completed and the fire was called under control at 21:00. The fire is currently under investigation by the Colorado Springs Fire Department, Division of the Fire Marshal.
