Colorado Springs Structure Fire

On January 31st, 2020 at 06:22 Colorado Springs Fire Department responded to a report of a possible house fire in the 1300 block of Bennett Ave. in East Colorado Springs. Engine 7 arrived to a working fire in a single-story single-family structure with smoke and fire on the Delta side being feed by a natural gas meter, and pulled a 1 3/4 line in for fire attack. A partial collapse occurred and a defensive strategy was declared by command. Firefighters then deployed hose lines to protect the neighboring home and to keep the fire in check until Colorado Springs Utilities was able to get on scene and shut off the gas. Rescue 17 arrived and assigned as RIT, HazMat 14 as Safety and Accountability and Squad 7 as Rehab. Firefighters were able to then extinguish the fire. A total of 36 firefighters responded to the scene. The fire is currently under investigation by the Colorado Springs Fire Department, Division of the Fire Marshal.
