Colorado Springs Commercial Fire

At approximately 09:52 on March 30th, 2020 Colorado Springs Fire Department was dispatched to 622 W. Colorado Ave. for a possible structure fire. Once units went en route, Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center advised the RP was reporting the roof was on fire and did not give any further information. Engine 3 arrived in the area was unable to determine the actual building and investigated. Engine 3 was able to locate the structure after an RP directed units to the location of the fire. Engine 1 pulled a reserve lay to the hydrant one block west of the incident. Battalion 1 then assumed command, Truck 1 laddered the Bravo side of the structure to access the roof to standby for vertical vent. Engine 3 then went interior to visualize the fire. Truck 4 arrived and was assigned the RIT and to secure utilities. Engine 3 then gave an update advising there was smoke on the second floor of the structure. Truck 1 was then assigned to cut a 4 vent to gain access to the fire. While Engine 3, pulled 1 3/4 attack line to the interior to minimize damage. At 10:02, command requested the working fire assignment. Engine 1 was then assigned to pull a backup 1 3/4. Truck 1 ladders then advised two areas approximately the 1 1/2 feet in diameter were on fire and were attempting to extinguish them with a pump can. Engine 3 advised the primary search was clear, HazMat 6 then arrived and assumed safety and accountability from command. Truck 1 and Engine 3 confirmed the fire was under control 10:18. Rescue 17 then arrived and was assigned interior vent and conduct a secondary search. No injuries and the cause is under investigation.

Working Fire Assignment: Rescue 17, HazMat 6, 52(PIO) & 73(PIO/EMS Liaison) (Cancelled)
