Colorado Springs Structure Fire

On June 14th, 2020 Colorado Springs Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire in the 5400 block of Fiesta Lane. First to arrive was Truck 10 and they reported fire and smoke coming from the rear of the townhomes. Due to the high winds at the time, the fire spread quickly into the rest of the home, and a defensive fire was called for by command. Firefighters were able to control the fire 20 minutes after the arrival of Truck 10. One person from CSFD was treated on scene with minor injuries and one resident was transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation. 15 people were displaced due to smoke and fire damage to the building. Investigators were able to determine that this was an accidental fire was caused by a cigarette that was improperly disposed of in a planter.
