Colorado Springs 2nd Alarm

At approximately 00:50 on March 30th, 2020 Colorado Springs Fire Department responded to the 2100 block of Kodiak Dr. for a possible structure fire. Once en route Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center advised the fire was spreading to a neighboring home and vehicle, and parties trapped. Engine 8 arrived on scene confirming multiple houses on fire and requested Engine 11 pull a double forward lay on approach and that Engine 8 grab the hydrant directly across the street from the address. Battalion 2 arrived and established Kodiak command and requested a second alarm assignment. Engine 8 and Truck 8 assigned to fire attack and search on the original structure, while Engine 11 and Truck 4 assigned fire attack and search the second structure. Engine 23 arrived and staged on a plug just to the south of the incident. Engine 23 was then reassigned to perform a secondary search on the second structure. Once Truck 4 had completed their primary search they were reassigned to perform exterior work and control utilities on the charlie side of the original structure. Truck 4 was then reassigned once again to RIT. At 01:09 crews were able to get a knock on the fire. Rescue 17 arrived and was assigned as the on-deck crew, while Truck 1 arrived and staged. HazMat 14 arrived and assumed accountability and safety. Truck 1 was then returned to service. Rescue 17 was assigned to evaluate the stability of the original structure. Air 15 arrived and set up just southeast of the incident. After being staged at a plug, Engine 4 was returned into service. Truck 8 was assigned to rise their aerial and perform overhaul on the Alpha-Bravo corner of the structure. Rescue 17 then assumed RIT from Truck 4. The fire is currently under investigation by the Colorado Springs Fire Department, Division of the Fire Marshal.

Working Fire Assignment: Battalion 1, Rescue 17, HazMat 14, Brush 16 (After the Fire) & 73(PIO/EMS Liaison)

American Medical Response: Supervisor 700

Special Call: X-Ray 193(Fire Investigator) & X-Ray 197(Fire Investigator)

2nd Alarm: Battalion 3, Engine 23, Engine 4, Truck 1 & Air 15
