Colorado Springs Structure Fire

On February 12th, 2020 at 03:40 Colorado Springs Fire Department responded to the 1100 block of Mazatlan Circle. When all units went en route, Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center advised there are two calls reporting the 2nd floor of an apartment structure was on fire and that there were possibly parties trapped. Engine 8 arrived to fire showing out of the second floor and the stairwell, Engine 8 pulled a 1 ¾ attack line and grabbed a hydrant for supply. Battalion 2 arrived assumed command from Engine 8 and assigned Truck 8 to vent and to perform VEIS a second-floor apartment. Engine 11 arrived and was assigned to grab another hydrant, as well as pull a 1 ¾ backup line and assumed Interim RIC. Once Truck 4 arrived they assumed RIC. Truck 8 was able to rescue two victims off of the fire apartment balcony during VEIS operations. Engine 11 was reassigned to assist AMR with tending to the patients and staff the backup line. Truck 4 on top of RIC was also assigned to shut off utilities. Engine 8 was able to get a knock on the fire and chased the fire into the attic where they got a knock on the fire. Truck 8 also cleared the primary search. Engine 11 was then reassigned once again to perform a secondary search on the fire apartment. Once HazMat 14 arrived they assumed Safety and Accountability. At 04:26, companies slowly began to be released. Brush 16 then arrived with members of the after the fire program to assist the occupants.
