La Junta Structure Fire

At approximately 09:30 on January 31st, 2020 La Junta Fire Department was dispatched to a possible structure fire in the 1200 block of Adams Ave. Upon arrival Chief 31 found heavy smoke and fire from the Bravo-Charlie corner from a known abandoned house, with conditions a defensive attack was called. A second page for mutual-aid from Cheraw Rural Fire Department and Rocky Ford Fire Department was requested for man power and coverage for the district. CDOT closed down the road and City of La Junta Streets Department brought a backhoe to remove the back of the house for full extinguishment. The cause of the fire is under investigation and suspicious. No injuries reported. Additional information provided by La Junta Fire Department
