Adams County Silo Fire

On June 2nd, 2021 at 12:01 Adams County Fire Rescue with auto-aid from Westminster Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the Brannan Sand and Gravel, 5880 Lipan St. Engine 11 reported heavy smoke showing and heavy fire from the bottom of six story barrel silo. Battalion 11 arrived and took command, requested a major incident tone and assigned Truck 11 and Truck 14 with aerial master stream operations. Engine 13 assisted Truck 11 with the water supply on the west side of the fire, and Engine 11 secured a water supply to Truck 14 on the east side with Battalion 1 in command. Medic 11 assigned as rehab, Engine 12 assisted the east side ops with the water supply and Engine 13 assisted the west side ops with the water supply, due to distance on the lays. Crews were able to get control of the fire after several hours and started overhaul and the investigation. Investigators reported that an unknown mechanical failure was determined to be the cause.
