Classic Air 5 Year Anniversary

On August 17th, 2021 Classic Air Medical Glenwood Springs Base celebrated their 5-year anniversary of serving the area from Valley View Hospital down at Sayre Park in Glenwood Springs, right below the hospital. Classic Air Medical is an air ambulance service operating out of several bases in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, New Mexico and Arizona, debuting in 1988 in Page, Arizona, operating a Bell 206 aircraft. The base also celebrated the arrival of a new helicopter to the base which swapped out a 2004 Bell 407 (N407CM). The new helicopter is a 2010 Bell 429 Global Ranger (Tail N429CH) and features a twin engine, larger compartment space, a rear-load concept for the patient and additional room for the flight crew. The new helicopter is the first of it’s kind in the state and is leading the way for safety features. The event featured a celebratory cake, corn hole, helicopter tours and a meet-n-greet with flight crew. The aircraft was blessed by Valley View Hospital’s Chaplain Lauren Martin and Sean Jeung, and a dedication was done by Valley View Hospital’s Dr. Ben Peery who was also the honorary ribbon cutter for the grand opening. Classic’s Regional Director, crews from Glenwood Springs Fire Department, staff from Valley View Hospital, Colorado River Fire Rescue Fire Chief and EMS/Training Division Chief, Glenwood Springs Police Department, and the community all attended. Three helicopter rides were raffled off giving the community a chance to experience the helicopter and see the city from the air.
