Engine 10 Sinkhole

Around 04:00 on February 7th, 2021 Colorado Springs Fire Department responded to a possible structure fire in the 4600 block of Ranch Dr. On scene, the crew of the city’s newest apparatus, Engine 10, suddenly began to sink into the roadway. The crew found that a sinkhole had formed under the apparatus due to a broken water main. Truck 10 found no fire problem a cleared all other units besides Engine 10 and Truck 10. Luckily no one suffered any injuries and the apparatus suffered minor damage. Engine 10 was able to go back into service at 10:00 the same day.
