Colorado Springs Structure Fire

At approximately 12:50 on May 18th, 2021, the Colorado Springs Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 2800 block of N. Nevada Ave. Before all units were able to go en route, the Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center was receiving multiple calls of the fire several callers reporting explosions, as well as police officers at nearby Penrose Main Hospital, were reporting a large smoke column in the area. On scene, crews found a large body of fire coming from the Navajo Hogan. Battalion Chief 4 declared the incident a working structure fire and assumed command. Engine 2 began fire attack and Truck 9 began the primary search. Command then advised it seemed the fire was contained to a detached garage and Rescue 17 assumed RIC. The primary search was cleared at 13:07 and minutes later the fire was knocked at 13:13. Crews then began overhaul and later handed the scene over to fire investigators.
