9-11 Memorial Dedication
The Denver Fire Department held a dedication ceremony and open house at DIA Station 35 on September 10th, 2021 in honored of the 20th Anniversary of the September 11th, 2001 attacks with a dedication of a permanent memorial that was installed at the Station. The steel is comprised from the World Trade Center and will be a lasting tribute to the fallen that died that day. The steel was donated by the Counterterrorism Education Learning Lab. The ceremony honored the 2,997 that were killed, including 343 FDNY firefighters, and those who also passed away from long-term health effects after assisting in the search & rescue efforts. The Honor Guard started the ceremony with guest speakers that included Denver Fire Chief Fulton, Public Safety Chief Deputy Executive Director Mary Dulacki, Denver Police Department Commander Mark Chuck, and Denver International Airport CEO Phil Washington, which then was followed by a moment of silence, and then the dedication of the placement of the reefs on the memorial.
