At 11:53 on July 23rd, 2021 West Metro Fire Rescue with auto-aid from Arvada Fire Protection District responded to a garage fire in the 2200 block of Gray St. in Edgewater. Jeffcom reported that Edgewater Police officers on scene with a garage on fire in the back of the home. Engine 1 enroute advised smoke in the air from Colfax Ave. and Kendall St. SAM 1 arrived to detached garage on fire, and assumed command on the Alpha side. Engine 1 arrived, established their own water supply, and pulled a 2 1/2 attack line with Medic 1. Crews reported a down powerline and requested Xcel to the scene. District 1 arrived and assumed command, and assigned Tower 8 with search to the primary residents and check utilities. Engine 17 pulled an extended reach lay down the alley from W. 24 Ave. & Fenton St. and secured a 2nd water supply with Engine 16. Command requested additional medic to the scene. Rescue 10 assigned to force entry with the roll-up garage door in the alley, and Medic 51 as medical. Crews got the fire quickly out and started overhaul on hot spots and the investigation. The fire was contained to the detached garage/apartment, and no extension to the house. There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
