Pueblo Dog Rescue

Around 20:45 on September 15th, 2021 Pueblo Fire Department was dispatched to Lake Minnequa for a medical issue that a local resident experienced after chasing their dog into the lake. Unfortunately the dog was not retrieved and crews were unable to help the residents find the pup. This morning after not returning home last night several units responded to help locate and rescue the dog. The dog, “Buddy” could be heard barking from across the lake. Crews donned personal flotation devices and took their boards and waded to the area near where Buddy was last heard. Once in the area, crews were able to move through the thick reeds and get to Buddy’s location. They were able to pull him out to the water and take him on the board back to the opposite side of the lake. The Pueblo Fire boat was launched and made contact halfway across and took Buddy back to dry land. Once out, Buddy was reunited with his family who he was very happy to see.
