South Metro Rubbish Fire

On March 11th, 2021 at 10:45 South Metro Fire Emergency Communications dispatched South Metro Fire Rescue to a reported outbuilding fire in the area of 2500 E Williamette Lane off of S. University Blvd. Companies responding were assigned SMF OPS 5 for incident radio traffic. Enroute, Battalion 2 was updated that it was a working fire with several callers reported smoke and flames and possibly one person attempting to extinguish. BC2 kept the response as assigned. Medic 37 arrived on scene at 10:49 to an outbuilding with smoke showing and began investigation. While investigating Medic 37 found a smoldering controlled burn, near out, with no structures involved. Medic 37 advised dispatch that the working response could pick-up and Engine 14 could handle with Medic 37. Battalion 2 arrived on scene as the response was requested to cancel and checked in with command for needs and conditions before taking over command. Engine 38 arrived on scene an level on staged. Engine 14 arrived on scene and pulled an 1 3/4″ pre-connect and started fire attack in the offensive strategy with a large fire pit full of rubbish. Command released Engine 38 and Ladder 12. Command reported the incident mitigated at 11:38 and terminated command as units prepared to pick up. Channel Ops 5 was released and Engine 14, Medic 37 went in service at 11:42.
