West Metro Attic Fire
At 08:38 on December 16th, 2021 West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a confirmed structure fire in the 1900 block of S. Cody Way. in Lakewood. Engine 8 arrived to a small two-story single-family home and a working attic fire with smoke and flames showing from the Charlie side, and pulled a 1 3/4 for fire attack in the offensive strategy. Tower 8 arrived and started the primary search. Crews advised of a down power line on the Bravo-Charlie corner. District 2 arrived and assumed command, assigned Engine 9 with the water supply to Engine 8. Medic 4 arrived and pulled a 2nd line off Engine 8 to the Charlie side. Engine 1 assigned with fire attack with Engine 8, and Rescue 10 as RIT. Crews got the fire quickly out and started overhaul. The fire was potentially caused by electrical issue due to yesterday’s wind storm, which pulled down a tree, taking a power line. No injuries were reported.
