Annual Awards Ceremony

Arvada Fire Protection District held their annual Awards Ceremony for the year 2021 on May 2nd, 2022 at the Ralston Valley High School. The event was first time hosting an in-person awards ceremony in 28 months. The ceremony featured the Arvada Fire Honor Guard, Pipe and Drum band, a bell ceremony, and the following awards: Firefighter of the Year: Lt. Anthony Comminiello. Employee of the Year: Kurtis Knight. Lt. Jim Schaefer Award: Capt. Mike Kulp. 5 Years of Service: Battalion Chief John Simpson. Schaefer Scholarship: Tyler Long (son of Engineer Scott Long) and Morgan McChesney (daughter of Lt. Tim McChesney). Individual Awards: Bryan Attardi, Cherie Fletcher, Michelle Kircher, Scott Plumer, Capt. Robert Putfark, Matt Spencer. Aaron Van Leeuwen, and Lt. Derrick Varela. Group Awards: Camp Ember instructors, the Honor Guard, station construction committee, EMS Field Trainer program leads, technical rescue trainers, and Marshall Fire first responders. Citizen Heroism Awards: Mike Cronin, Bob Reynolds, and Ken Lombardi. 18 members received the Phoenix Award. West Metro Fire Rescue, Westminster Fire Department, and Adams County Fire Rescue helped cover the district allowing for many of the crews to be able to attend the ceremony and receive awards.
