Calhan Brush Fire

At approximately 23:45 on December 6th, 2022 El Paso County 911 Communications Center alerted Calhan Fire Protection District, Peyton Fire Protection District and Ellicott Volunteer Fire Department to a possible structure fire near the 7000 block of S. Calhan Rd. On arrival, crews discovered the fire was actually a brush fire and not a structure fire; and the area involved was approximately 50 feet by 50 feet. Engine 1410 established incident command and Brush 1440 began fire attack. Chief 1400 arrived on scene and assumed command; Engine 1410 joined the fire attack group. The fire was determined contained at 00:13, and command then canceled Ellicott units. Tender 3621 arrived on scene and set-up a pool to began shuttling water to the scene, as needed for mop up operations. At 02:20, command declared the fire out and mop up completed; crews then returned into service
