Lefthand Station Grand Opening

The Lefthand Fire Protection District hosted a grand opening and open house for their new Station 1, 900 Lefthand Canyon Drive in Altona on December 3rd, 2022. The community was invited out to attend the ceremony, meet with firefighters, check out the apparatus and tour the station. The new building, which will house the department’s administrative offices, also has a large kitchen, living area, a gym a classroom and dormitory rooms for overnight stays. The $3.4 million station was funded by a grant from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs, a lease purchase and local fundraising. Officials from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Boulder County Emergency Services, Boulder Mountain Fire Protection District, Boulder Rural Fire Rescue, Jamestown Volunteer Fire Department, Lyons Fire Protection District, Pinewood Springs Fire Protection District, Sunshine Fire Protection District, the U.S. Forest Service and Congressman Joe Neguse’s office attended the event.
