South Metro Attic Fire

At 14:56 on February 15th, 2022 South Metro Fire Rescue responded to a reported residential structure fire in the 100 block of S. Sherman St. in Englewood. Safety 18 arrived an scene in command to a small single-story single-family structure with a working fire from the Charlie side, and confirmed that everyone was safely evacuated from the residence. Engine 11 arrived and pulled a line in for fire attack in the offensive strategy and Engine 38 secured the water supply to Engine 11. Battalion Chief 3 arrived and assumed command on the Alpha side and assigned Tower 32 with vertical ventilation and Engine 15 with Medic 16 to pulled a 1 3/4 line to the Alpha side. Crews extinguish the flames and started the overhaul and the investigation. Investigators determined the fire was accidental, related to improperly disposed smoking materials.
