West Metro Structure Fire

At 20:48 on March 12th, 2022 West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire in the 900 block of S. Ames St. in Lakewood. Engine 7 and Medic 7 arrived on scene to a fully involved structure fire, Engine 7 pulled a 2 1/2 to the Alpha side for fire attack in the defensive strategy. Medic 7 advised of down power lines in the front of the home, and requested Xcel to the scene. Engine 1 established the water supply to Engine 7 from W. Kentucky Ave. and S. Ames St. District 2 arrived and assumed command, and assigned Engine 8 to pull a 1 3/4 to the Charlie side, Engine 3 as RIT and Medic 3 as medical. Tower 8 pulled an 1 3/4 off Engine 7 and assisted Tower 2 with laddering the gable for fire attack in the attic space. Crews got the fire under control and started an extensive overhaul. The house was possibly being used as a shelter, although both the house and detached garage had been boarded up. No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation.
