West Metro Structure Fire

At 00:22 on June 18th, 2022 West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire in the 4400 block of S. Van Gordon Way in Lakewood. Rescue 10 arrived to a small two-story single-family with a working fire from the Alpha side, and pulled 1 3/4 for offensive exterior fire attack. Engine 12 arrived and assigned as primary search with Medic 12, and Engine 9 secured the water supply to Rescue 10 at S. Vivian St. and W. Swarthmore Ave. Engine 13 assigned as RIT and Medic 13 as medical. District 3 arrived and assumed command on the Alpha side, and assigned Engine 11 to assist with fire attack. Firefighters worked heavy fire that moved into an upper level bedroom. There was significant damage to the exterior and the bedroom. The family and two dogs were home, but got out before firefighters arrived. There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
