West Metro Apartment Fire

At 18:25 on July 21st, 2022 West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a reported structure fire in the 8300 block of W. 16th Place in Lakewood. Engine 1 arrived to a medium size multi-family single-story apartment structure with heavy involvement from the bushes to the attic space on the Alpha side, pulled 1 3/4 for fire attack and the primary search with Medic 1. Engine 2 arrived and pulled a 2nd line off Engine 1, Engine 3 assisted with the water supply to Engine 1. District 1 arrived and assumed command in the offensive strategy and assigned Medic 11 with the medical group. Crews got the fire under control at 18:51 and started an extensive overhaul. The fire moved from the outside to inside one unit and then up into the attic. A second unit had smoke and water damage. There were no injuries, but five people were displaced. West Metro fire investigator has determined the fire was intentionally set and the suspect has been identified. Additional information provided by West Metro Fire Rescue
