At 11:49 on May 29th, 2022 West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a reported structure fire in the 8700 block of W. 20th Ave. in Lakewood. A passerby called 911 when they saw smoke coming from the roof. Engine 2 arrived to a small single-story single-family residential with smoke showing from the backyard and started the investigation. Engine 2 secured the water supply and pulled 1 3/4 to the front door Alpha side and Tower 2 started the primary search. District 1 arrived and assumed command on the Alpha side in the offensive strategy, and assigned Engine 1 and Medic 1 to pull a 2nd line to the Delta side. Medic 3 arrived and assigned as medical and Engine 3 with utilities. Command put the fire under control at 12:07. The fire was contained to the room of origin, and the cause is under investigation.
