On February 27th, 2022 around 16:00 Pueblo Fire Department was dispatched to the 3200 block of N. Elizabeth St. on a reported structure fire. Pueblo 911 Communications Center (City of Pueblo Police & Fire Dispatch) advised callers reporting an abandoned building at this location was on fire. Engine 38 was able to see flames from Highway 50 bypass and advised Chief 3 that a 2nd alarm may be needed. Engine 35 arrived to find a fully involved commercial structure that had previously been left abandoned and began pulling lines to begin fire attack. Units caught the hydrant on the east side of Elizabeth and stretched over 1,000 feet of hose to supply the engines fighting the defensive fire. Pueblo Police Department was able to keep the southbound lanes of Elizabeth open but northbound was shut down to protect the supply hose lines. Units remained on scene for several hours overhauling the building and bringing the fire under control. Thanks to Josh Grady for the pre-water pictures!
