On June 15th, 2022 South Metro Explorers began their training by going over the basics of the different parts of a ladder and how they work. Once all of the members were comfortable with their knowledge of ladders they practiced carrying them in different ways both individually and with a partner. Explorers then took turns standing the ladders up in the air and getting comfortable with maneuvering them around in various ways. The Fire Explorer Program is in cooperation with the South Metro Fire Rescue and other host fire agencies offering young men and women real life experiences, training, and exposure to the career opportunities in the fire service. Second, it provides a reliable and effective means for preparing and eventually recruiting the firefighters of tomorrow from our surrounding communities.
