AT 11:47 on April 29th, 2022 Westminster Fire Department responded to a vegetation fire in the 5600 block of W. 88th Ave. under a red flag warning day. Crews arrived to a grass fire along the railroad between W. 88th Ave. and W. 86th Ave. A limited number of evacuations were issued as gusts nearing 60 mph pushed the blaze. A quick response enabled crews to get a knock on the fire, preventing the fire from extending to homes bordering the railroad. The only property damage occurred to fence line and sheds. Crews were on scene an extended time to conduct overhaul and ensure no sparks re-ignite. No injuries are reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
