On February 7th, 2023 at 04:26 Fort Collins 911 (FC911) dispatched Poudre Fire Authority to a working structure fire in the 2000 block of Churchill Ct. in Fort Collins. Engine 4 arrived on scene and arrived and found a single-family, two-story home fully engulfed in flames. Due to the intensity of the fire and potential instability of the structure, firefighters worked to extinguish the fire from the outside of the residence and engaged in a defensive strategy and focusing on protecting the homes near the fire. Engine 4 crews pulled a hose and completed a 360 review of the situation and found that the entire structure, with the exception of the garage, had active flames both inside, stretching through windows and up walls. The fire was under control at 05:30. Personnel remained on scene throughout the day to extinguish hot spots from the exterior because of the inability to enter the structure safely. Investigators found a deceased adult’s remains inside the home. The Larimer County Coroner will determine official cause and manner of death and will identify the decedent at a later date. Additional information was provided by Poudre Fire Authority and Fort Collins Police Department.
