Fort Collins South Shields Street House Fire
2nd Alarm House Fire
On February 25th, 2023 at 11:56 Fort Collins 911 (FC911) dispatched Poudre Fire Authority to reports of a house on fire in the 1500 block of S. Shields St. in Fort Collins with all occupants safely evacuated. Multiple PFA apparatus responded and the fire was upgraded to the second alarm due to reports of a working fire while en route. Crews arrived on scene to find a heavily involved room and contents fire. First-in crews made an offensive attack to extinguish a fire and complete a primary search. An aggressive attack prevented the concern of the fire extending into the attic. Firefighters rescued one cat, the status of three more cats is unknown. The displaced residents will stay with family and a restoration company has been called in. As of 14:11, Tower 1 and Engine 4 remain on scene to aid in the investigation. A PFA investigator also remains on scene and the cause is not yet determined. Shields St. was temporary closed during the fire. Additional information provided by Poudre Fire Authority
