La Junta Garage Fire

At 18:53 on December 11th, 2023 La Junta Fire Department responded to 921 Belleview Ave. for a reported structure fire in a detached garage. Upon arrival heavy smoke and fire were showing from the backside of the garage. Two attack lines were deployed to start knocking fire down and cooling another garage next door. Crews had to cut the garage door and force entry. Crews then started extinguish remaining fire and conducted salvage and overhaul looking for hot spots. The cause of the fire was from a heating mat to keep baby chicks warm. Information provided by the La Junta Fire Department
