Loveland Structure Fire
At 03:22 on December 23rd, 2023 Loveland Fire Rescue Authority was dispatched to an unconfirmed structure fire in the 3100 block of Butternut Drive in North Loveland. The Loveland Emergency Communications Center (LECC) (200) upgraded the alarm to a confirmed multi-family structure fire based on additional 911 calls reporting flames and smoke visible from a duplex. Engine 42 arrived on scene of a single-story duplex with a working fire in one unit of the duplex. Engine 42 and Engine 45 advanced hose-lines for fire attack and Rescue 42 initiated a primary search and flow path control. The 360 follow up report indicated heavy fire throughout the one unit with extension into the attic space. Loveland Police officers requested Thompson Valley EMS to the front yard of the adjoining unit for two patients that had exited the main fire unit prior to the arrival of responders, one of the patients was transported to the hospital, the other evaluated on scene. Tragically during the primary search a deceased victim was located inside the structure. The fire was brought under control in approximately 15 minutes with no fire extension to the adjoining unit. LFRA is being assisted with the fire investigation by Loveland Police Department, a fire investigator from Larimer County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).
